THE RAINBOW RING

Oh hear the tale of the Rainbow Ring

The circle of color when rain will sing

Of a time when Day said 'good bye' to Night

After a most hideous and troubling fight.

The two broke away vowing never to come back

And Day was ever Day,  and Night was ever black

Till a rain Cloud so lost and floating over the sea

Cried, "The Day and the Night have abandoned me!"

And with the Cloud's tears a great flood arose

Covering the green earth where everything grows

For Day would not budge, nor Night reconcile

And the world became crazy, confused and wild.

But then on the great sea of sadness appeared

A little boat with a man who steered

He just waited and prayed to the blank empty sky

Where nothing, not Day or Night did reply

So on he floated not knowing what to do next

And the Cloud seeing his patience became a little less vexed

Saying, "Look at the man, who is trusting and faithful.

He surely will perish if you remain ever hateful."

But Day was unmoved so the Cloud flew to Night

"Oh please for the man, do what is right!

Let the Earth regain its beauty and time

And help the man, who upon my tears did climb."

At last Night with a dark and cold soul

Was touched by the Cloud as it thundered and rolled

And Night broke its stubborn old jail cell of bars

And went to Day with a bouquet of stars.

Day so amazed and flatter replied

"What made you change and lessen your pride?"

Then cradling the Cloud, Day was sweetened by Night

So they danced and danced in a circle of Light

Around and Around

And around and around

Till a circle of colors fell into the ground

half lodging itself in earth's crusty crown

There the two shared love all forgiving

Half seen by the dead, half seen by the living

For the Rainbow Ring is a ring from the ancient dance

When Day and Night had a passionate romance

Then Day wore a golden gown of June

And Night in its blackest suit trimmed with Moon

Were wed together with this beautiful ring

With all of Creation celebrating

And for One who braves the darkest sea

Not knowing what the end will be...Each Day and Night will comfort bring

And lead you to..The Rainbow Ring.
